Virginia Skyline IMA
President’s Message
Fall 2025

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! Our board has been busy planning programs and
contacting speakers for the coming year, and we’re pleased to announce that we're offering 16 hours of local CPE between September and next April!

This year, all of our meetings (including lunch meetings) will be held at the Spotswood Country
Club which is conveniently located at 1980 Country Club Road, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Our lunch
meetings last approximately 90 minutes during which time you have an opportunity to eat
lunch, network with area accountants, and earn an hour of CPE! Everyone is welcome at all
meetings whether you’re an IMA member or not.

We’re kicking off the year on Thursday, September 25th with Joshua Gooden, Economic
Development and Tourism Coordinator for Rockingham County. He will be providing an update
on local development projects and will discuss the local economic impact of Buc-ees. In
October, Captain Chris Monahan, Special Operations Bureau Commander for the Harrisonburg
Police Department, will be speaking on ICE/immigration issues. In November, we will have
speakers from two area not-for-profit organizations.

We’re holding a half-day seminar on Thursday, December 18th at Spotswood Country Club
which will include an update on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and IRS Issues. Also, mark your
calendars for April 16, 2026 for our annual full-day event which will include the 2-hour Virginia
required Ethics course.

We use proceeds from our full and half-day CPE events to fund scholarships that we award to
accounting students at our local colleges and universities. This past year, we awarded four
$1,000 scholarships to accounting students!

We hope you’ll make plans to join us in the coming months for CPE and fellowship with other
area accountants!
